When Teen Spirit and Mid Life Angst Collide……..

Posted on June 29, 2011

Mothers can feel at opposite ends of the spectrum to their teenage daughters, who change almost overnight from loving, sweet little girls to secretive and more complex beings. There is loss and change for both generations but there is also so much more that unites us than meets the immediate eye.

In this blog I will be delving into every nook and cranny of family life with teenage daughters in particular, from obsessions with the body beautiful to boys, booze and bitching. I hope that SPOTS AND CELLULITE will provide entertainment, comfort as well as build a useful resource for mothers and daughters everywhere by drawing on the extensive research I have conducted for my books – The Terrible Teens, The Big Fat Bitch Book and Couples – as well as personal experiences gathered from hundreds of interviews.

I fictionalised the way that mothers and teenage daughters tend to see the same events in family life so very differently in What About Me? and What About Me, Too? (available as ebooks from www.katefiges.co.uk).  I want to expand that dialogue here so please help by contributing your own comments and stories, tips and guidance for a happier and healthier family life whether you are a mother or a daughter.
